Christopher Muggaga

Dr. Christopher Muggaga is a Lecturer in the Department of Food Science and Postharvest Technology, Faculty of Agriculture and Environment of Gulu University, Gulu city, Uganda. He holds PhD in Agricultural and Applied Biosciences, Masters of Science in Applied Human Nutrition and Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Technology. He has enormous research and consultancy experience in East Africa in the domains of food security, human/community nutrition, agro-processing. 

Since 2009, he has supported various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and government initiatives: CARITAS Gulu Arch diocese- training farmer groups on solar-dried fruits and vegetables in Acholi sub-region (April-May, 2023); AVSI Foundation-Skilling in Agripreneurship for Increased Youth Employment (SAY) Project (Jun 2022-March 2023); Accenture and BOSCO-Uganda (2021)-health facility baseline survey in all West Nile Districts as Cluster Leader; Northern Uganda Resilience Initiative (NURI) Project (2020) for Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Adoption study for Arua in West Nile as Team Leader; HORIZONT3000 East Africa (2019) for baseline study for the Enabling Rural Innovation East Africa programme in Uganda and Tanzania as a consultant; as a consultant for Food and Agriculture organization of the United Nations Project  (2017-2018) to promote micro-enterprises development amongst refugees and host communities; as a consultant for HORIZONT3000 East Africa (2018) for external evaluation of Enabling Rural Innovation (ERI) Project in Uganda and Tanzania; as a consultant for Caritas Gulu Arch Diocese (2017) for End of project evaluation for the 3 years Emergency Relief Projects in Adjumani District; Consultant for German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) for baseline survey on Adaptation of Agricultural methods to Climate Change (CCA) in Karamoja sub-region of Uganda; Associate Consultant Agribusiness Management Associates (AMA) (2009) for baseline survey for Livelihoods and Enterprises for Agricultural Development (LEAD) Program in West Nile (Zombo and Arua Districts); and Operation Wealth Creation (OWC)-Muyeme project (2021) in collaboration with Gulu University, Gulu District Local Government, Makerere University and UIRI collaboration as Production Team Leader. 

Dr. Chistopher Muggaga is active researcher, with experience in both qualitative and quantitative (including Social, Laboratory, andFormative and Action Research), he has published a number of peer-reviewed articles. He is one of the directors of NGS and supporting grant proposal writing and other document reviews in food security, nutrition and other related areas in agriculture.
